Blog and Company Updates
Open Enrollment has the potential to be a stressful, confusing time. It also has the potential to set you up to achieve your financial goals as you head into a new year. Here, we tell you what you can expect from our agents as they guide you through the process, as well as what you can do to best prepare for the process.
If you are already a client, an agent will contact you to set up a time to meet in person or over the phone. Any new clients can reach out to us by phone or through our contact page. During that meeting, you will discuss things like your satisfaction with your policy from the previous year – What did you like? What do you want to adjust? You’ll also think through your goals, financial and lifestyle, for the upcoming year. Using all the information you provide your agent will then walk you through the best policy options for you.
Something else that is unique to Hopkins Financial is selecting a ministry to support. Our company offers the opportunity for all our clients to support another ministry through their business with us! All you have to do is choose one of our ministry partners, and 50% of our profits from your business with us will be given to the partnered ministry. It’s a fantastic way to support other believers without any additional financial strain!
To make the process of reviewing and choosing a policy as seamless as possible, you should think through a few things before you meet with your agent.
Did you have enough coverage? Did the company assist you in a professional, timely manner? What would you change if you could? These are all things to consider as you decide on which policy to use in the future.
Are you planning to get married or start a family? Are you switching healthcare providers or adding new services? Do you need additional medication? Have you gotten off any previous medication? Have there been any major adjustments to your income?
Major lifestyle changes can affect which policies you qualify for. They also have the potential to save you money if you take the opportunity to report them. There could also be changes happening with the insurance company you currently use and the policies they offer, so this is a good time to make sure you don’t automatically get switched to another product that isn’t going to be the most helpful for your unique situation.
Open Enrollment is the time when every insurance policy holder has the chance to make changes to their policies or switch providers without any negative consequences. If you don’t use this time to actively assess and make necessary changes, then your insurance company will either automatically renew your old policy OR switch you to a new one (if your previous policy is no longer available). This could lead to overspending on your insurance or not having enough coverage. Taking the time to reassess your insurance needs with your agent could save you money (and headaches) further down the road.
Open Enrollment lasts from November 1 – January 15. However, if you would like your new policy to take effect on January 1, then you need to make sure you make any changes before or on December 15. Any changes made to your policy past that date will go into effect on February 1 instead.
Give us a call or reach out to us on our contact page! We’d love to get to know you and see how we can assist you with all your insurance needs!
